How do I choose the right colour for my tablerunner?

Using colour does something to your table. It makes your table stand out or blend into your interior.

Summer - Cool Scandinavian shades like blue and grey are great choices for summer. It puts us in the mood for crisp white wine and fresh fish from the barbecue.

Autumn - In autumn, if you choose the same fabric type (in this case Basic Uni Cotton) but an aubergine or honey colour, you hit the nail on the head again, especially with a stew or game dish as the main dish.

Seasonal colours - You can be inspired by the season, dishes, company and occasion when making a colour choice for your table linen. If you prefer your table to blend into the colour scheme of the rest of your interior, choose a shade that matches the colours already present in the room.

Fresh white - A crisp white tablerunner is actually always a good choice. For a personal touch, combine the white tablecloth with, for instance, glossy gold napkins or napkins in your favourite colour.

What colours do you recommend for a natural look on the table?

We translate the desire for nature into our interiors. We like to surround ourselves with natural materials. Home accessories made from natural fibres are very popular. We accept the small imperfections of nature and the charm of handmade or antique.

Cottona's Pure Linen tablerunners are sublime when it comes to a natural look. This type of fabric is for you if you love pure materials and the natural, slightly casual look of linen on the table. The irregular texture of the undyed and unbleached fabric gives the tablecloths, table runners, placemats and napkins a unique look and turns every table into a picture.

If you think the fabric is too coarse or the natural flax colour is not quite to your taste, choose a Horeca Linen tablerunner in a natural shade such as Oyster, Taupe or Truffle.

How do you create beautiful colour combinations?

All Cottona colours can be mixed and matched. The possibilities are endless. We are often inspired by Johannes Itten's colour wheel, where red is opposite green, yellow is opposite purple and blue is opposite orange. Choose a colour for your tablecloth and combine it with an accent colour for your placemats and napkins that is opposite that colour on the colour wheel. For example, royal blue with honey or petrol with pink.

Neutral tones such as white, sand, beige, brown, grey and black work well with all colours. Our personal favourites are tone-on-tone combinations, where you combine different shades of the same colour. For example, anthracite with grey or ivory with glitter gold.
