Round and oval tables

Tablecloth sizes for round and oval tables

For round tables, the required size is determined by the diameter of the tabletop plus the desired drop on all sides. For oval tables, measure the longest and widest points of the tabletop and add the desired drop to both sides.

Example for a round table:
Table diameter: 100 cm
Desired drop: 25 cm
Required tablecloth size: 150 cm round

Round and oval tables often look best with a slightly more generous drop, as this enhances the soft lines of the table. On our product pages, the Cottona custom size calculator automatically determines the ideal dimensions based on your table shape, table size and preferred drop.

Tablecloth drop and shrinkage

A tablecloth should hang at least 20 cm over each side of the table. For larger tables, we recommend a drop of 25 to 30 cm for a balanced and elegant appearance.

Always take fabric shrinkage into account as well. Depending on the material and weave, fabrics may shrink slightly after washing.

For tables with armchairs, a generous drop is also recommended. A short tablecloth can look unfinished and may disrupt the proportions of the table. Allowing the tablecloth to rest lightly on the armrests creates a refined and well-dressed look.

No calculations needed with the Cottona custom size calculator

At Cottona, everything revolves around custom-made table linen. That is why our custom size calculator on the product pages automatically determines the ideal dimensions based on the shape and size of your table. This ensures that your tablecloth fits perfectly and hangs in balanced proportions.
